SUMMARY:Learning at the Speed of Wireless: Online Real-Time Machine Learning for MIMO in NextG
DESCRIPTION:Tsinghua Alumni Association in Greater Washington DC\, Monte Jade Science and Technology Association of Greater Washington\, and Chinese American Data Science and Engineering Association (CADSEA) invite you to delve into the crossroads between artificial intelligent (AI) and next-generation (NextG) cellular networks. \nSpeaker:\nDr. Lingjia Liu\nProfessor & Bradley Senior Faculty Fellow\, Virginia Tech\nDirector\, Wireless@Virginia Tech \nThe integration of machine learning (ML) into next-generation (NextG) cellular networks is a groundbreaking shift in wireless communication. While ML has transformed fields like image and natural language processing\, its potential in NextG networks hinges on achieving real-time learning at the speed of wireless. \nIn this talk\, Dr. Liu will explore innovations in online real-time machine learning\, focusing on MIMO receive processing using recurrent neural networks (RNNs). He will present an unconventional approach where RNN weights are “randomly generated” and left untrained to address limitations in over-the-air (OTA) training signals. By incorporating domain knowledge\, these weights can be “configured” to enhance system performance. The method’s efficacy will be demonstrated through 3GPP evaluation methodologies and a software-defined radio (SDR) prototype. \nThis session offers a unique opportunity to delve into cutting-edge advancements in ML for wireless communications\, emphasizing their practical applications in NextG technologies. \nAbout the Speaker \nDr. Lingjia Liu is a leading expert in wireless communication and a Professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. As the Director of Wireless@Virginia Tech and a founding faculty member of the Innovation Campus\, Dr. Liu’s research focuses on enabling technologies for 6G networks\, including machine learning\, massive MIMO\, non-terrestrial networks\, O-RAN\, and integrated sensing and communications. \nWith a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University\, Dr. Liu’s career spans academia and industry. He previously led 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced standardization at Samsung Research America. A recipient of 8 Best Paper Awards\, Dr. Liu has secured over $132M in research funding\, with $27M as a principal investigator. \nJoin us for this exciting talk to learn about the future of machine learning in wireless networks! \nFree pizza and drink! \nFor more details\, please contact info.dc@tsinghua.org. \n\nLocation\n\n\n\nPlease register to see the exact location of this event.\nMcLean\, Virginia\n\n\n\n\n Register
